The manufacturing of COLLECTIVE’s knitwear takes place in La Paz, Bolivia, which is one of the poorest countries in the world and where very few international companies source their production. It is here that COLLECTIVE was fortunate to find a production house that produces some of the finest knitwear in the world. With its unique de-hairing process, they have helped us produce a unique llama quality that is not only beautifully soft but also less prone to pills forming due to the longer fibres we are able to extract from the llamas.
The craft and tradition of knitting has been deeply rooted in Bolivia for hundreds of years and plays a significant importance to their cultural heritage. By learning and working alongside our manufacturers COLLECTIVE aims to assist in the preservation of this rich nomadic tradition, bring greater trade opportunities to the shepherds and knitters of Bolivia and help encourage ethical practises throughout each stage of production.
